EDED100326 “notice me”
It’s a generational thing.
Hardly a week passes that I don’t get a warning from an old –like me – friend warning of imminent identity theft, or a scam that will cost me thousands, or the danger of getting a dangerous character picketing my home by putting out too much information on the web.
But most folks under 30, it seems, are joyfully and carelessly exposing themselves (sometimes literally) to anyone who will look at their spot on a social networking site. And a surprising number of older folks – including me – are also running their banner up the www flagpole – and I’m one of them!
The late Ric Masten, UU Troubadour minister, wrote a song titled “The Coffee Table Dancer” about the hardwired need we all have to be noticed. I suppose – shoot, I know – that the need-to -be noticed is a major motivation for preachers and bloggers alike. We craft all sorts of rationalizations but what we shout first of all is “notice me, notice me, notice me.”
Well, you’ve noticed me or you’d not be reading this. I hope you’ll browse the various pages and let me know what you think.
But remember
I MAY CHANGE MY MIND TOMORROW.
